ADA Checklist
The Lani Resort and Convention Center meets all ADA requirements. Below are detailed lists of each requirement for our guests satisfaction.
Entrances from outside
Entrances are clearly marked whether they are accessible or non-accessible entry ways. All doorway entrances throughout our resort and convention center (unless otherwise noted) are 36 inch wide clear openings with offset hinges with 18 inches of clear wall space on the pull side of the door. These are double doors that are controlled by 5 inch square push plates that are mounted to the walls. On the pull side of the doors, there is a push plate 18 inches from the door that is mounted on a pole. The door handle measures at 48 inches high from the ground and is operable for all persons. The doors have automatic door closers that take 5 seconds to close. The sidewalks around the resort are 36 inches wide. There are slopes adjoining the sidewalk and street at the front entrances and from the beach to the resort entrances that do not exceed a ratio of 1:20.

- Balconies are accessible with push plates and meet ADA door requirements. All Lani balconies are all 5 feet wide
Parking and Drop-Off Areas
There are 250 parking spaces in the resort parking lot and 500 parking spaces in the convention center parking lot. There are 10 accessible parking spaces for the resort and 20 accessible parking spaces for the convention center. The accessible parking spaces are 8 foot wide, with minimum 8 foot wide access aisles, and 98 inches of vertical clearance.
Restaurant
Elevators
- Tables are 27 inches high, 30 inches wide and 19 inches deep for wheelchairs to fit under
- Doorways are wide enough for wheelchair accessibility
- Automatic Operation
- Hall call buttons are 42 inches above the floor and 3/4 inches in diameter
- Visual signals that indicate when each call is registered and when each call is answered
- Raised and Braille characters on hall call buttons and floor designation buttons inside the elevator
- Doors of elevators remain open for 5 seconds and automatically close after the allowed time
- Elevator door is 36 inches minimum clear width in the middle of the elevator.
- Width of the elevator car is a minimum of 80 inches
- The depth of the elevator car measured from the back wall to the elevator door is a minimum of 54 inches
Stairs
All stairways are clearly marked with raised signs and braille, and have non-slip, non-skid grips near the bottom of each step. Stairways have rails on one side going down a stairwell, accompanied by a wall on the other side.
Bathrooms
- Doorways are 32 inches wide with offset hinges with 18 inches of clear wall space on the pull side of the door. There is a 5 inch square push plate at each door placed on the adjacent wall located 18 inches from the ground.
- Pathway to fixtures is 36 inches wide
- There is 1 accessible stall for all men's and women's bathrooms. The accessible stalls are 5 feet by 5 feet wide and have grab bars behind and on the side wall nearest to the toilet.
- The toilet is 18 inches high
- The sink sits at 29 inches above the floor with automatic faucets and soap dispensers
- The paper towel dispensers are 34 inches from the floor and are also automatic
- The mirrors are mounted with the bottom edge of the reflecting surface 40 inches above the ground
Water Fountains
- Located in the Fitness Center
- Accessible water fountain is 30 inches by 48 inches in front
- The spout is no higher than 36 inches from the ground
- Controls are mounted on the front and two sides. They are operable with one closed fist.
Signage
All of the rooms, lobbies, pool areas, and other activity rooms through the resort are clearly marked by signs that are accessible by sight and by braille. The letters on the signs are somewhat raised off of the sign as well. The signs are largely enough marked with adequate information. Signs are also accompanied by pictures, such as the bathroom sign, which reads: The Women’s Restroom, shows a picture of a female, and has braille below it that reads Women’s Restroom and the outline of the female has braille around it. Exit signs are placed above each exit to the outside. Signs are 60 in above the floor to the centerline of the sign. Mounting location for such signage shall be so that a person may approach within 3 in of signage without encountering protruding objects or standing within the swing of a door. Accessible areas are clearly marked with the international symbol of accessibility.
Emergency Systems
Each guest room, hallway, lobby, walkway, elevator, etc. is equipped with an audible alarm and a visual alarm. The combinations of the 2 make for a safer environment. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms are equipped in each guest room and are located throughout the resort and convention center.
Front Desk
On the both sides of our resort Front Desk, the counter tops are lowered to 30 inches and have the required 27 inches high, 30 inches wide and 19 inches deep for wheelchairs to fit under.
Accessible Guest Rooms
- Keyless entry is available for our accessible guest rooms. A scanner is available for key cards to have access to guest rooms. The door handles are accessible with a closed fist, 48 inches high.
- The bathroom door has an accessible handle that allows the door to be opened into the guest room. The door is 32 inches wide and has a range of 18 inches into the guest room.
- The sink sits at 29 inches above the floor with automatic faucets and soap dispensers. It is 30 inches wide and 19 inches deep for wheelchairs to fit under.
- Showers are flat floor and walk-in. A bench is available and safety bars are available along the walls. The shower heads are adjustable with a long hose.
- The toilet is 18 inches high and has safety bars on each side
- There is at least 36 inches of space between furniture in the guest rooms
Boat Dock
- Paved accessible pathway from boat house that is 36 inches wide
- It is accessible with the use of beach wheel chairs
- The ramp has a ratio of 1:12 and is 36 inches wide. It has sturdy railings on both sides that are 36 inches high
- The boat dock is 36 inches wide
- Accessible boats are available
Convention Center
- Ticket booths have a portion of the main counter which is a minimum of 36 inches in length are provided with a maximum height of 36 inches from the floor that is accessible for our guests who need the assistance.
- Hallways are 7 feet wide
- Doorways are 32 inches wide with offset hinges with 18 inches of clear wall space on the pull side of the door. There is a 5 inch square push plate at each door placed on the adjacent wall located 18 inches from the ground.
- Tables in the conference rooms are 27 inches high, 30 inches wide and 19 inches deep for wheelchairs to fit under
- The bathrooms fit the same requirements in the convention center as they do in the resort
